International Astronautical Congress 2023

The international space community convened this year in Baku, Azerbaijan, to participate in the International Astronautical Congress 2023. Among the numerous exhibitors and organizers showcasing the latest innovations and technologies, Losberger De Boer's Revolution and Kubo event tents stood out prominently.

Revolution: groundbreaking event space solution

The Revolution tent by Losberger De Boer proved to be a true game-changer in the realm of event architecture. With its impressive size and versatility, the tent became the central hub for the whole congress to provide space for the various exhibitors and display items. Featuring an innovative blend of high-quality materials and cutting-edge technology, the Revolution tent provides a flexible and adaptable environment for events of any kind.

The customer's requirements for the event tent were anything but standard:
With impressive dimensions of 120m length and 65m width, the Revolution event tent was to offer over 7,800m² of optimally air-conditioned and illuminated exhibition space.
In order to provide sufficient space for even the largest exhibits, the side height had to be adjusted from 6m to 8m. The wind load requirements were also challenging due to the often stormy weather conditions in Baku: instead of the standard 27 m/s, the tent had to be adapted and reinforced to withstand 32 m/s wind loads.

In proximity to the famous Heydar Aliyev Center and on a marble-covered square, grassy areas and a 4-lane main road, setting up the tent was anything but easy.
In order to meet the requirements for the increased load-bearing capacity of the floor of 500 kg/m² and the height differences of up to 1.60 m, a special subfloor construction and foundation was developed, which was erected only within a few weeks with the help of precise static calculations.

As the Heydar Aliyev Center and the congress are subject to the strictest security regulations, utmost care and speed were required during construction - only six weeks were available to erect the tent.

The construction work itself was also challenging: to install the roof elements, a total of 4 heavy-duty cranes, each with a load capacity of over 130 tons, were required to lift the roof elements, measuring over 1,700 m² each, into the air. There, at a height of 10m, they were joined together with centimeter precision and anchored to the ground elements - all at temperatures of around 40 degrees Celsius.

High-performance air-conditioning technology and state-of-the-art lighting systems were installed for the interior. 14 special double wing electronic security doors were installed to ensure safe entry and exit to the Revolution tent.

The Kubo event tent was built in addition to the Revolution as the entrance area including wardrobe, security checkpoints and two meeting rooms. With dimensions of 10m span and 35m length, 350m² offered best space to welcome guests and provide room for meetings. To create a beautiful appearance, the Revolution and Kubo were covered in a custom branding for the event.

Thanks to our highly trained experts and experienced teams from 6 countries, the whole construction was handed over to the customer in just 4 weeks.
