Losberger De Boer builds Floral Marquee and celebrates the Festival of Roses at RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show

At this year’s RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, the Floral Marquee, constructed by Losberger De Boer, spanned over 6,750 square metres and welcomed 140,000 visitors over the seven-day event.

Losberger De Boer also built structures to house this year’s Festival of Roses, which included displays from Eastcroft Roses, Seale Nurseries, David Austin Roses, Peter Beales Roses, Harkness Roses, Fryer’s Roses, The Real Flower Company and UK Roses.

In addition, two new rose species were unveiled for the first time, Rosa ‘Sarah Elizabeth’ and ‘Eirene’ Memorial Rose, and Rosa ‘Starlight Symphony’ was named Rose of the Year.

The Floral Marquee, built using a gigantic Jumbo Hall, incorporated features specifically designed for the event, such as the patented ventilation grid system which enabled a constant circulation of fresh air throughout the marquee, helping keep exhibits at their best while maintaining a comfortable indoor climate.

Despite the huge scale of the Jumbo Hall the team took only five days to build it. Klaudia Zamorska, Project Coordinator at Losberger De Boer, commented on this year’s project:

“Losberger De Boer has worked with RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show for the past six years and building the centrepiece for the event is always a rewarding challenge. This year’s show was as impressive as ever and the scale of the Jumbo Hall was the ideal structure to properly showcase the talent of the exhibitors.”

The absence of interior supports within the Floral Marquee also allowed for the optimum use of the space and limited disruption to any of the displays.

David Edwards, Head of Show Operations at RHS, commented:

“The Floral Marquee is an integral part of the show and we were delighted to work with Losberger De Boer again this year. The team always delivers a breath-taking structure whilst ensuring that all our exhibitors have enough prior access to the exhibition space to prepare their displays – ready to deliver an amazing event for visitors.”
