Building a baroque castle in 72 hours

12/12/2019

Temporary structure with chateau facade

Using a temporary structure from Losberger De Boer as foundation, our valued partner Alta Expo managed to build a stunning historic event location which took the guests of an exclusive party all the way back to the 17th century.

Working together with event agency BN GROUP, Alta Expo created the unique ‘Chateau Nicolas’ in the style of recognizable memorials from all around the world using a Losberger De Boer uniflex structure. The event was held on site of a golf club in Kozyn, 30km from Ukraine’s capital Kyiv.

Experience the 17th century
The main goal of this project was to erect a castle-like temporary building, as well as to create an authentic design that would surprise the guests and also encourage them to immerse themselves in a realistic 17th-century experience. Therefore, the project involved the work of many specialists like electricians, decorators, artists and make- up artists allowing them to achieve a breathtaking imagery and mood.

As a result, BN Group and Alta Expo recreated a temporary structure with the façade architecture of the Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte, the interior design of the Mirror Gallery of the Palace of Versailles, the ceiling decoration in the style of the frescoes of the Sistine Chapel and the backyard of the Mirror Square in Bordeaux.

Building a castle in 72 hours
“This extraordinary project proved to be a specific challenge that could only be met by using Losberger De Boer’s uniflex system” says project manager Irina Dusheiko the logistical challenges of this highly customized project. Looking into details, the tent builders on-site faced uneven ground with differences in height of 1.20m. Moreover, the construction team worked within a tight schedule of 72 hours to deliver a turn-key event location, while fighting unexpected rain that lasted 24 hours.

To sum up, Alta Expo used a 21x10m Losberger De Boer uniflex that was long in width, narrow in depths and high in ridge, so guests could perfectly watch the music and dance show happening in the pool and on stage.

“We would like to congratulate Alta Expo on realizing this remarkable project”, says Joachim Brand, Area Sales Manager at Losberger De Boer. “With this structure, they took the guests on a historical journey, which I’m sure they will remember for a long time.”

LDB signing contract Tokyo 2020

Losberger De Boer will build more than 30,000 square meters of temporary accommodations at the Olympic Games in Tokyo next year. Due to the high risk of earthquakes and typhoons, the Tokyo metropolitan region is subject to extremely strict building regulations. The German company is one of the few suppliers of temporary space solutions worldwide that can actually ‘qualify’ for the Olympics.

Losberger De Boer has supplied temporary accommodations for the Olympic Games on several occasions. The company, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, will again be present at the summer games of 2020.

Losberger De Boer CEO Arnout de Hair recently co-signed the contract for large scale temporary space solutions at twelve Olympic locations with Yuki Nomura, President of TSP Taiyo, one of the Games’ main contractors for event locations. Losberger De Boer's structures will be used to complement existing accommodations for athletics, gymnastics, football and beach volleyball, among others. Its structures will also serve as media centers, ticket scan facilities, changing rooms, offices and storage.

Under the leadership of Francis Scholten, Managing Director International Events, Losberger De Boer will begin preparations for the construction of the first of approximately 450 temporary space solutions for the Olympics early 2020.

Francis Scholten: "We have extensive experience with events of this scale and assignments of this complexity. Obtaining this contract underlines the success of our strategic focus on quality, innovation and the best possible customer experience. We are proud to once again have a strong presence at the world's largest sports event."

Losberger De Boer is set for a blooming summer as it continues its partnerships with two of the world’s biggest flower shows. The team will be returning to Hampton Court Palace and the RHS Chelsea Flower Show as they provide a variety of space solutions to enhance the consumer experience at both annual events.

At Hampton Court Palace, Losberger De Boer will once again build the large Floral Marquee exhibition hall to showcase the array floral displays, best nurseries and exhibiting specialists built on a waterside location surrounded by music stages and adjacent to the plant village. Special ventilation systems are installed to keep both the plants and people happy, and the structure is built over the existing grounds to enhance the rural aesthetic.

At the Chelsea Flower Show, the structures especially designed for the event will be making an experience with an enormous 13m high structure erected to cover the The Chillianwallah Memorial, a statue commemorating the 1849 battle of that name during the Second Sikh War. The structures will provide exhibition halls, offices and conference suites for guests and the double decker Ranelagh Restaurant provides a seafood restaurant with champagne terrace for VIP guests.

John Cochrane, Event Sales Director said “We’re thrilled to be working with the RHS again on the Hampton Court and Chelsea Flower Shows. Over the years, we’ve created bespoke solutions for each events needs and acknowledged the desire to be sympathetic to the historic surroundings. We look forward to continuing this partnership in the years to come and assisting the RHS to create the best possible experience”

Losberger De Boer have recently become approved suppliers to Hampton Court Palace and are excited to work with both them and the RHS on forthcoming events.
