De Boer to provide temporary structures for historic Leander Club
20 February 2008
De Boer has secured a five-year contract to provide temporary facilities to one of Britain’s most exclusive clubs for one of the country’s most prestigious sporting events. The historic Leander Club on the banks of the Thames has awarded De Boer the contract to erect a large structure within its grounds for the Henley Royal Regatta. Presidents structure
The double-decker Presidents structure will house hospitality areas, bars, restaurants, a souvenir shop, kitchens and toilet and washroom facilities.
Floor coverings
De Boer has also been asked to supply and fit almost 2,000 square metres of floor coverings and decorations, including carpets and Astroturf as well as picket fencing along the river’s edge.
Temporary facilities
Founded in 1818, Leander Club is the world's oldest and most renowned rowing club. 2008 marks the third successive year De Boer will have worked with the club to provide facilities and the first of the new five-year contract.
Building on success
John Cochrane, De Boer’s Sales Director – Events, says: “We are very proud to be associated with the Leander Club and the securing of this longer term contract is a major recognition of what we’ve achieved so far. The site is challenging to work within but our foreman, Gavin Scheidel, with his vast experience, copes admirably. The result on the river’s edge is simply stunning.”
Quick build
It’s not just the space into which the structure must fit that’s tight, it’s the schedule for erecting it too. Staff will be on site for just five days getting it ready in plenty of time for this year’s Henley Royal Regatta.
Reliable and friendly service
Leander Club General Manager Charles Barker says: “The De Boer team provide great craftsmanship and service. They’re eager to please and are willing to go that bit extra. We’ve really found their service to be extremely helpful and supportive.”
Henley Royal Regatta
Henley Royal Regatta is being held between 2nd and 6th July, 2008 and a few hospitality tables are still available. For contact and details call Judi-Ann on 01491 575782 or regatta@leander.co.uk.
