Thousands of talented young singers, dancers, artists and actors will be offered the perfect backdrop when De Boer builds temporary accommodation for one of Europe’s largest youth festivals.

Temporary accommodation
De Boer is to provide temporary accommodation to the annual Urdd Gobaith Cymru’s National Eisteddfod, which takes place this year in May near the Welsh resort of Llandudno. The event is due to involve as many as 15,000 competitors and be attended by a crowd of 100,000 enthusiastic spectators.

Innovative solutions
A further million people are due to see De Boer's innovative solutions when the six-day spectacle is broadcast on television, with activities also covered via radio and webcasts.

Vast array of temporary facilities
De Boer will provide the Eisteddfod’s organisers with a vast array of facilities including main competition pavilion measuring more than 40,000 square metres.

Semi-permanent pavilions
Other facilities range from choral and dance pavilions, TV studio, arts & craft centre and learners’ pavilion to offices, welcome centre, changing rooms and public food areas.

A-frame structures
De Boer’s contract will involved the supply of a range of products including a large number of A-frame structures as well as its Acropolis, Chalet and Sunstar structures.

Competitors' accommodation
De Boer Project Manager Sophie Edwards said: “The annual youth Eisteddfod is a major cultural event, not just for Wales but for the whole of Europe. With tens of thousands of people flocking to the venue, De Boer has been handed responsibility for creating a vast array of facilities for competitors and spectators.”

Temporary festival structures
As well as providing competitions for singers, musicians, dancers, actors and other artists, the festival offers additional attractions including a fair, workshops, sports fixtures, picnic area, children’s events and hundreds of craft stalls.

An international audience
For many performers, the Eisteddfod is the culmination of many months of preparation and rehearsals – with their artistic endeavours enjoyed by spectators both in De Boer’s structures and via television and radio broadcasts.

Building on previous successes
The annual celebration is hosted in a different location each year, with the 2008 gathering getting under way on May 26 at Gloddaeth Isaf Farm, Glanwydden, near Llandudno.

Central competition arena
De Boer’s work at the youth festival complements a long-standing assignment with another great Welsh institution – the National Eisteddfod of Wales, this year taking place in Cardiff in early August. De Boer will again be out in strength for the spectacular gathering, providing facilities that include the huge central competition arena.
