De Boer prepares for prestigious international boat show
25 August 2011
Structure specialist De Boer is preparing for a major nautical challenge as it erects large quantities of temporary accommodation for the spectacular PSP Southampton Boat Show. Exhibition floorspace
The company is to provide more than 10,000 square metres of undercover exhibition floorspace for the 10-day event, which is set to attract over 120,000 visitors to Southampton between the 16th and 25th of September.
Hospitality facilities
As well as providing facilities such as exhibition, catering and hospitality space for organiser National Boat Shows, De Boer has also received a range of private orders from many international participants in the show.
Jumbo, Sunstar and Pyramid
Individual products being put to use next month include the company’s Jumbo, Sunstar, Pyramid, Chalet and Acropolis structures. De Boer’s temporary accommodation will be transformed into high-profile facilities including the Ocean Hall, Windward Hall, Mayflower Hall and Solent Hall exhibition spaces. The company will also create the Show Entrance, in addition to further facilities including the Medical Centre and the bar and food facility in Windward Lounge. A range of De Boer’s structures will also be erected on the Show’s purpose-built marina where they will be turned into hospitality suites for exhibitors.
Showcase of latest products
Now in its 43rd year, the 2011 PSP Southampton Boat Show will feature up to 1,000 boats ranging from dinghies to yachts and motorboats. Hundreds of exhibitors will showcase the latest products and innovations from across the marine industry – all hosted at one of Europe’s largest purpose-built marinas and boasting more than 2km of pontoons.
Host of new features
Regular attractions such as feature boats, Try-a-Boat, Get Afloat and Try-a-Dive as well as fine dining will be complemented for 2011 by a host of new features – The Sea Theatre Live including boat clinics and the Sea Kitchen Theatre, team racing, a boat parade and what is being billed as the UK’s first-ever interactive Oyster Festival! A new Authors Live section will allow visitors to meet leading writers from the boating world.
Long-standing supplier
Murray Ellis, of National Boat Shows, said: “De Boer is a long-standing supplier of structures to the Show reflecting its consistent quality of structures and service and the ability to meet our increasing demands for improving our facilities.”
Leading boat show
Meanwhile John Cochrane, De Boer’s Sales Director – Events, said: “The PSP Southampton Boat Show continues to go from strength to strength. As a prominent – and long-standing – supplier to the gathering De Boer sees its role as working with National Boat Shows to ensure the facilities reflect the excitement of the event. We believe the UK’s leading outdoor boat show deserves the UK’s leading suppliers!”
