Forget global predictions of economic doom and gloom, the UK team at structure specialist De Boer is gearing up for the most hectic year in its history.

Purpose-built HQ
With 2012 just around the corner, the next 12 months are already looking phenomenally busy for the group, which operates in this country from a purpose-built HQ in Northamptonshire – created inside the company’s own structures.

Largest single assignment
With London becoming the focus of world sport next summer, the entire events industry is preparing itself for a frantic time. But De Boer is also set to tackle another Farnborough International Airshow (the group’s largest single assignment), as well as huge events such as the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the spectacular MoonWalk charity fundraisers and numerous summer music festivals and sporting challenges.

Motor sector, warehousing and retail
De Boer’s operations in the commercial sector are also going from strength to strength, with temporary accommodation increasingly being used in a diverse range of sectors including offices, warehousing, retail, local government and the motor industry.

Overseas network of offices
But, while the challenge may appear daunting, De Boer’s UK team has one major card up its sleeve – an overseas network of offices able to supply equipment from across Europe to help meet the anticipated demand in the UK.

Huge stock of structures
In total, De Boer’s international bases hold a stock of temporary structures calculated at half-a-million square metres of floorspace – equivalent to five Farnborough International Airshows held simultaneously!

Summer of sport
Peter Spruce, Managing Director of De Boer Structures (UK) Ltd, said: “It’s all systems go at De Boer for a phenomenally busy 2012. With the eyes of the sporting world on London next summer it’s going to be a hectic time for all concerned.

Events and commercial sectors
“I am really proud of the team we have at De Boer – working in both the events and commercial sectors. They have shown time and again their ability to deal with the big challenges head on, so 2012 will be business as usual – albeit a little busier.”

International airshow supplier
Aside from any sporting challenges, De Boer is set to face another mammoth assignment at the Farnborough International Airshow, which takes place on July 9-15. The company has been providing the huge temporary exhibition venue at the biennial gathering since 1996, routinely supplying around 3,500 tonnes of equipment for each event. During successive recent shows, De Boer’s structures have provided floorspace totalling nearly 100,000 square metres.

Spectacular flower show
The 2012 RHS Chelsea Flower Show promises to be another large-scale spectacular for De Boer, which provides organisers with the ‘Great Pavilion’, the event’s stunning centrepiece. The temporary indoor exhibition area, covering 12,000 square metres, will become home to exhibits from across the world when the show throws open its doors on May 22-26.

Charity events
Meanwhile De Boer is set to be working again in 2012 with breast cancer charity Walk the Walk, which raises millions of pounds each year via its headline-grabbing MoonWalk fundraisers in London and Edinburgh. De Boer provides the charity with a vast range of structures, enabling thousands of participants to assemble before taking to the streets for their fundraising power-walks. In 2012, MoonWalk London will take place on May 12, followed by MoonWalk Edinburgh on June 9.
